Joost Ortjens (Ohmio) presents an airport tarmac use case in which autonomous vehicle data is enriched with information from infrastructure-embedded sensors. To address a building-induced blind spot at a high-speed crossing, an external radar was integrated into the vehicle's automation. Issues previously classified as high-risk dropped to zero. The session argues that mission-critical AV decisions should be supported by infrastructure sensor data: seeing is believing.
