Special Interest Session
The deployment of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in cities is advancing, but progress remains uneven and often limited to pilots. Moving toward real-world services requires not only technological maturity, but also prepared stakeholders, capable institutions, and informed communities.
Cities and regions must be able to understand and address the different building blocks of CCAM deployment such as vehicle capabilities, infrastructure, regulation, operations, business models, and testing environments. However, many stakeholders still lack the awareness, organisational readiness, and institutional capacity needed to engage with these dimensions and translate them into practical deployment strategies.
This session focuses on how cities and mobility stakeholders can assess and strengthen their preparedness for CCAM deployment. Drawing on the work of the CCAMbassador project, it will present the identified deployment building blocks alongside emerging approaches to assess readiness across stakeholder groups and shape targeted capacity-building actions. Contributions from the CulturalRoad and RESKILLING projects will add perspectives on stakeholder engagement and preparedness, societal aspects, and skills development. Together, these insights will explore how building blocks, readiness and awareness assessments, and capacity-building activities can be brought together to help cities and regions identify gaps, build preparedness, and move toward responsible and scalable CCAM deployment.
