Commercial freight is expected to increase towards 2050. The European climate goals set great challenges for the transport sector and electrification is a challenge for the vehicle industry and mobility services. Transformation in the transportation industry is on-going supported by the 2ZERO partnership, ERTRAC and ALICE roadmaps towards zero emission logistics. The evolution of vehicle design and logistics operation technologies with Digital Twins and more generally Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) is gaining importance. It will be used at all stages of the industrialisation, exploitation and operation process with increasing AI support, leading to cost reduction and contributing to transport electrification acceptance. This topic addresses how these digital solutions including AI will support electrification of transport, in particular for electric trucks design and manufacture, transforming fleet operation with predictive maintenance. It will also address the standardisation needs and challenges for Digital Twins and SDV for universal adoption. Will these technologies really reduce cost and ease vehicle and freight logistics operations? How will AI support these developments? In order to bring light on this topic, this session will bring together a panel of experts from different stakeholders (OEMs, suppliers, freight logistics, users) involved in key 2Zero projects related to digital twins.
