This session aims to share insights and experiences from the latest advancements in various heavy-duty logistics transport innovation projects (FlexMCS, MACBETH, EMPOWER, ZeFES and ESCALATE - part of AEVETO cluster of EU funded projects), focusing on the major learnings paving the road towards battery electric long haul-logistics benefiting Megawatt Charging infrastructure in the near future. Over the session, EMPOWER, ESCALATE and ZEFES projects will shed light from on-going demonstrations of various zero-emission modular powertrain heavy-duty vehicles including battery electric and hybrid/fuel-cell configurations targeting different ranges and vehicle's missions in operating environments across EU, while addressing topics of modularity, interoperability, efficiency, economic and infrastructure challenges. From another perspective FlexMCS and MACBETH projects will provide an overview of the recent advances in Megawatt Charging infrastructure pilots across EU, as well as wider stakeholder perceptions towards the future charging infrastructure scale up and battery electric vehicles operations, taking into account aspects of various deployment use cases, charging standardization, and efficient next generation MCS enabled trucks integration within various setups.
