Intent of the session is to provide an overview of smart mobility development in South East Europe; including trends and initiatives on one side and challenges and obstacles on the other side, with particular focus on changes in infrastructure and impact of those changes to all groups of users and how this will fit into a wider European picture. Expertise of the speakers enable addressing two subtopics within a single session: "C-ITS, V2X, and automation to protect all including vulnerable road users" and "Cross-border harmonization of safety regulations to support AV and C-ITS deployment". Speakers were carefully selected as experts from the ITS domain with particular expertise in topic(s) this SIS is addressing. Coming from the South East Europe region and positioned on the newly established TEN-T Western Balkans – Eastern Mediterranean Corridor with profound knowledge of the recent developments within their country of origin and/or operation makes them competent and able to provide insights related to specifics of the each one. This makes a group with common grounds and many similarities, particularly in user needs, overall infrastructure and cultural background and implementation challenges, paving the way for interactive, novel and overall interesting discussion.
