Digitalisation is reshaping how cities, regions, and national authorities plan and manage transport systems—but why is it still not delivering the expected mobility transformation?
Despite major investments in data platforms and digital tools, many public authorities are struggling to turn data into real operational and policy impact. The gap between digital ambition and real-world delivery is becoming harder to ignore. Insights from the Moonshot initiative point to a persistent structural issue: the problem is no longer data scarcity, but system readiness. Fragmented architectures, poor interoperability, unclear governance models, and limited institutional capacity continue to block effective data use across governance levels.
This session brings together city, regional, and national authorities with experts from standardisation, European institutions, and industry to confront a critical question: what is still preventing data from becoming a true driver of mobility transformation?
The discussion will explore what it will take to move beyond isolated digital pilots towards scalable, interoperable data ecosystems that support decision-making and delivery. It will connect city-level experimentation with regional coordination and national frameworks to identify where the real bottlenecks lie.
