Special Interest Session, Multimodal mobility system management
Special Interest Session SIS 32 14:00 > 15:00 SIS 32 Implementation of autonomous driving: From technical design to regular operation MAÇKA Special Interest Session

The market introduction of Level 4 autonomous driving functions requires a deep understanding of how technical systems interact under real-world conditions. The crucial factor is not the performance of individual components, but the ability and proof of the overall system to handle complex traffic situations consistently and predictably. Progress arises where models and validation methods accurately reflect real-world dynamics and make their limitations transparent. The implementation of these technological innovations is intertwined with issues of safety, homologation, and approval for regular operation. Germany plays a pioneering role in this area with its AFGBV (Regulation on the Approval and Operation of Motor Vehicles with Autonomous Driving Functions in Defined Operating Areas), which establishes a legal framework. Autonomous mobility gains reliability when technical integrity, legal issues, and operational requirements are clearly defined and continuously verifiable. This interdisciplinary focus is the subject of the special session, which features contributions from research and development, politics and authorities.
