Ten years after its founding, C-Roads has become the central European platform for cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS), with its focus to coordinate the introduction and deployment of C-ITS across borders and ensure interoperability. What began in 2016 as an initiative by eight European transport ministries, now includes stakeholders from 21 European countries. The focus for the coming years will be on greater involvement of additional players, particularly in urban areas. The objective is to integrate newcomers into the C-ITS ecosystem in a structured manner and to further accelerate the rollout of C-ITS along trans-European transport corridors and in European cities. This session is designed to reflect on the progress and milestones of C-ITS deployment in Europe, achieved in the last decade, while also highlighting the strategic priorities for the next phase of the Europe-wide rollout of C-ITS.
