Special Interest Session
Historically, Traffic Regulation Orders are paper-based and are created and managed by highway authorities. They contain data on speed limits, parking restrictions and other important information. The digitalisation is critical in delivering future services, including connected and automated vehicles and this is a key area of focus internationally. NAPCORE Task 4.5 has an important role collecting requirements for technical specifications that will be developed in CEN and ISO (through METR). In England, UK the D-TRO service has transition from Private to Public Beta, opening the service up to all users. This session will focus on the development of legislation, creation of the legal approach that supports highway authorities and industry, as well as the evolution of emerging and fully deployed services in England, Netherlands and Norway. We will offer insights on International and European standardisation in NAPCORE and METR and lessons learned through user research and engagement with stakeholders. Attendees of this session will benefit from learnings on the latest information on the state of national deployments for digitalised traffic regulation services and critical thinking from leading standardisation bodies. We will also cover insights from Europe’s first fully deployed D-TRO Service and learnings and considerations to aid future deployments.
