This session addresses the question: “How can megacities redesign mobility systems to remain resilient under climate stress while advancing electrification and digital transformation?”
Focusing on dense megacities like Istanbul, it examines the intersection of urban mobility and climate resilience. With transport systems increasingly exposed to extreme weather and energy disruptions, the discussion shifts from simple emissions reduction to building robust, future-ready mobility networks. By viewing electrification and smart technologies through a climate-resilience lens, the session explores how infrastructure can remain operational under climate stress while supporting digital transformation.
Bringing together expertise from municipal climate policy, automotive innovation, urban mobility planning, and international climate finance, the session is structured in two blocks. The first block analyzes how climate risks affect transport infrastructure, electrified fleets, and operational performance, highlighting vulnerabilities and reliability challenges. The second block explores city responses, including leveraging climate finance, designing pilot initiatives that test mitigation and adaptation strategies, and establishing governance frameworks for climate-responsive mobility solutions.
Attendees will gain practical insights into resilience-led mobility, including financing sustainable projects, electrifying commercial fleets, and integrating climate adaptation into urban planning. The session provides actionable guidance and strategic direction for deploying mobility systems that are both climate-resilient and technologically advanced.
